Ramadan is a time of reflection, sacrifice, and caring for those in need. Recognizing that many families struggle to meet their daily needs during this sacred month, the alumni community came together with generous contributions and heartfelt support. What began as a simple idea of helping others quickly grew into a meaningful effort that touched lives across the country.
Through the collective generosity of alumni, the Welfare Committee was able to reach 20 vulnerable families in the Central and Eastern regions of Uganda. For these families, the support came at a crucial time, bringing not only food and financial assistance but also renewed hope and dignity during the fasting period.
Each family received a carefully prepared Ramadan Support Package designed to sustain their households throughout the holy month. The package included:
- 10 kg of rice
- 20 kg of maize flour
- 5 kg of sugar
- 2 litres of cooking oil
- 2 bars of soap
- UGX 50,000 in cash support
Beyond the material support, the initiative carried a deeper message — a reminder that no member of the alumni community stands alone in times of hardship. The Welfare Drive became a symbol of solidarity, reflecting the enduring bond shared by graduates of the Islamic University in Uganda.
The success of the 2026 IUIU Alumni Welfare Ramadan Drive stands as a testament to what can be achieved when people unite for a common purpose. It reaffirmed the values of generosity and compassion that Ramadan teaches, and it strengthened the spirit of service among alumni.
